Hyundai AX1 Looks Like A Mini-Venue – Tata HBX Rival

The exciting new Hyundai AX1 micro SUV has been spotted again in the South Korea. This time, the vehicle was caught wearing less covers. The spy image confirms that the new model will be the brand’s smallest CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle) or SUV, and will rival the Tata HBX crossover in the country.

The spy images reveal that the new Hyundai AX1 CUV shares the split headlamp setup with the Venue. While the LED DRLs are placed on the top, the main headlamp unit is positioned lower on the bumper. Going by the image, it is visible that the new micro SUV looks like a smaller version of the Venue compact SUV.

The sub-4 meter SUV comes equipped with pronounced squared-off wheel arches with plastic cladding, ORVMs with integrated blinkers and shark fin antenna. The spotted model has alloy wheels, but the production-model will have differently designed alloys.

The new Hyundai AX1 micro SUV will have signature cascading front grille with mesh pattern, flat side profile with strong shoulder line, curved front window frame on the trailing edge, tight overhangs, C-pillar mounted door handles and raked windshield. The new model has dimensions similar to that of the Santro, and is expected to measure around 3.7 meters in length.

Details about the new Hyundai AX micro SUV interior are yet to be revealed. It is expected that the new model could share the cabin features and components from the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Santro. The spy images reveal that the micro SUV has rear parking sensors, adjustable headrests and pole antenna. The micro SUV is likely to get a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.

It is expected to be based on the K1 platform and could share the engine options with the Grand i10 Nios. The micro SUV could receive the 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. The SUV could also receive Santro’s 1.1L engine that offers 67bhp and 100Nm of torque. Transmission choices might include 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option.
