It is now official that the upcoming 7-seater Hyundai Creta will be called the Hyundai Alcazar. The company has released a new teaser video, which reveals the name of the upcoming 7-seater SUV. The new Alcazar is reportedly to be launched by April 2021, while global debut is expected in March 2021.
The teaser reveals that the Hyundai ALCAZAR “personifies reliability and indulgence while drawing its inspiration from the royal lineage of castles and palaces, denoting grandeur, spaciousness and solidity.”
The Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater SUV will be positioned against the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500. The SUV will look largely identical to the 5-seater Creta; however, it will receive some changes to keep things fresh in the market.
The upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV is likely to be based on 20mm longer wheelbase. The length of the SUV is reportedly to be increased by 30mm, which should help Hyundai to create space for third row of seats. The SUV will also receive several changes at the rear profile, which will offer flattish design instead of rounded profile in the 5-seater Creta.
The new Hyundai Alcazar SUV will have extended over hangs, and flatter roof instead of the sloping roof in the Creta. The rear section will be completely new, as it will have new LED tail-lamps and relatively flatter profile and new bumper and tailgate. The 7-seater Creta will also receive a chrome-studded radiator grille, new bumper and headlamps.
It is expected to be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. While the former will have captain seats for the second row, the 7-seater will have bench-type seats. Media reports suggest that the new Alcazar will come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system than the standard Creta, which has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new model will also receive auto-dimming IRVM, 360 degree camera, leather upholstery and front parking sensors.
It is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 138bhp and 250Nm of torque, the turbo-diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer. The Creta also gets a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that offers 113bhp and 145Nm of torque.
