Hyundai 7-Seater SUV To Rival Gravitas, XUV500; Launch In 2021

It is no secret that Hyundai is readying a 7-seater SUV based on the Creta SUV. The SUV has recently been caught testing in India. A new report claims that Hyundai will launch a new premium SUV to rival the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500. The new premium SUV is most likely to be the 7-seater version of the Creta, which is rumoured to be called the Hyundai Alcazar.

Report further claims that Maruti Suzuki will introduce the all-new Celerio and the Alto 800 this year. Mahindra will launch the new XUV500 and Scorpio, while Tata will introduce the Gravitas and the HBX micro SUV. Renault will soon launch the Kiger sub-4 meter SUV to rival the Tata Nexon.

Not just 7-seater Creta, Hyundai is also readying a mini SUV (Codenamed AX1) and an all-new compact MPV for the Indian market. The 7-seater SUV will have updated design and interior. The SUV is expected to ride on 20mm longer wheelbase, while the length of the SUV will be raised by 30mm to accommodate third row of seats. The Creta has a boot space of 433-litres; however, the 7-Seater model will have smaller boot and engineers are likely to use this space for the 3rd row of seats.

The new Hyundai 7-seater SUV will come with aggressive design, featuring new front. It features a chrome-studded radiator grille, and revised headlamp and bumper. The SUV will also get front parking sensors, which is missing in the five-seater variant. The SUV will have an extended rear overhangs to accommodate third row of seats. The spy images reveal that the SUV gets slimmer C-pillar, re-designed rear profile with new bumper, tailgate and tail-lamps and flatter roof instead of sloping-type in the 5-seater model.

The new 7-seater Hyundai SUV is most likely to be offered in 6- and 7-seat options. The six-seater will have captain-type seats in the second row, while the 7-seater version will get bench-type seat with 60:40 split. Most of the features will be sourced from the 5-seater model. The SUV is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
