Honda Elevate SUV Unveiled – Specs, Features, Launch Details

Honda Elevate, the all-new midsize SUV from the Japanese automaker, has finally made its world debut in Delhi, India. Here, it will challenge the segment-leader Hyundai Creta along with going head-to-head against the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. The SUV will go on sale during this year’s festive season as revealed by the carmaker. Its bookings will begin in July 2023. Honda is surely a little late to join the bandwagon, there is decent buzz for the Elevate SUV.

First, we will talk about its platform and engine. The new Honda SUV underpins the fifth-generation City’s platform and share its petrol engine with its sedan sibling. It sources power from the 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good enough for 121bhp and 145Nm. The motor can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. There is no official word on its 1.5L strong hybrid version.

Interior of the Elevate shares a great resemblance with the City sedan. One of its highlights is the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite – called Honda Sensing. It includes advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking system, road departure warning and automatic high beam assist. The SUV has a single-pane sunroof, where most of its rivals offer panoramic sunroof. It also gets a freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charge, a rear parking camera and many more goodies.

The new Honda SUV’s design is inspired by the new-gen CR-V and WR-V, which are on sale in select global markets. It carries a flat nose with a large signature badge in the centre, a familiar grille with mesh insert and a thick chrome slate, a sleek air dam, LED headlamps and LED DRLs are connected via a thick chrome bar, two fog lamps under the headlamps and faux skid plates.

The Elevate comes with multi-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels with black finish, a shark fin antenna, wraparound LED taillamps connected via a red bar, rear bumper mounted reflectors, rear wiper and washer and a tailgate mounted number pate holder. The slightly pronounced wheel arches with thick plastic cladding add more to its SUV-ish appearance. The overall length and height of the Elevate SUV stand at 4312mm and 1650mm respectively. Measuring around 2650mm, its wheelbase is similar to the Creta. The SUV comes with a boot space of 458-litres and has a ground clearance of 220mm.
