Honda Amaze Cumulative Sales Cross 4 Lakh Milestone

The Honda Amaze has proven to be one of the popular choices among buyers in the subcompact sedan segment. This has reflected in the model’s cumulative sales that now crossed 4 lakh mark since its launch in 2013. The carmaker has also confirmed that over 20% buyers opted for the automatic variants. While the tier 2 and 3 markets contributed 56% to its total sales, the tier 1 markets have around 44% contribution. The compact sedan received a generation change with significant exterior, interior updates and diesel-CVT combo in 2018. Currently, the Amaze is the top-selling Honda car in the country, followed by City, WR-V, Civic and CR-V.

2020 Amaze facelift

In January 2020, the Japanese carmaker introduced the BS6-compliant version of the Amaze. The subcompact sedan comes with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines making power worth 90bhp with 110Nm and 100bhp with 200Nm respectively. The BS6 petrol model delivers mileage of 18.6kmpl with manual gearbox and 18.3kmpl with CVT automatic transmission. Compared to its BS4 version, the updated motor is slightly less frugal. The diesel engine of the Amaze has been calibrated with NSC (NOx Storage Catalyst) and a diesel particulate filter. While its BS4 version was claimed to offer fuel economy of 27.4kmpl (MT) and 23.8kmpl (AT), the BS6-compliant unit promises 24.7kmpl (MT) and 21kmpl (AT). At present, the Honda Amaze petrol variants comes in the price range of Rs 6.17 lakh – Rs 8.79 lakh. Prices of the diesel models start from Rs 7.63 lakh and go up to Rs 9.99 lakh. In other news, the Japanese carmaker is ready to bring in the updated Jazz hatchback. While its launch is likely to happen in coming weeks, its official bookings have already been commenced at a token sum of Rs 21,000. The 2020 Honda Jazz BS6 will come with a LED package along with one-touch electric sunroof, new upholstery, a few extra features and BS6-compliant petrol engine.
