Hero Electric Car Might Be A Possibility?

Hero MotoCorp recently crossed 100 million cumulative production milestone in the country. It’s one of the fastest global cumulative production landmarks, with the last 50 million units coming in 7 years. The bikemaker rolled out its 100 millionth unit from its Haridwar based facility in Uttarakhand. Hero retained its title of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer for the 20th consecutive year.

Speaking about the brand’s future plans, Dr Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp, revealed that the company is planning to launch over 10 new products every year for the next 5 years. That means, there will be more 50 new Hero bikes and scooters by 2025 including all-new models, updated versions and new variants of the existing products. The home-grown two-wheeler maker also aims to expand its global footprints under its “Be the Future of Mobility” strategy in coming years.

Hero MotorCorp might also enter into the electric four-wheeler segment along with taking a big leap in terms of connected and autonomous technology, share commercial and personal platforms and products. The bikemaker has already showcased the Hero Quark 1 electric three-wheeler concept under its Hero Hatch Electric Modular Mobility project. If the concept goes into production (which is highly unlikely), it will be used for personal and commercial purposes such as e-commerce and product deliveries.

The Quark 1 has been boosted with the brand’s M360 and AMSEP (Advanced Modular Scalable Electric Powertrain) technology. The model comes equipped with GPS, OTA (Over The Air) updates, battery monitoring and customisable user profile. It can be used as a two-wheeler and a three-wheeler. The company says that its rear wheels are retractable making a three-wheeler cabin.

In late 2020, Hero MotorCorp and Harley-Davidson announced a new distribution and licensing partnership under which Hero will be responsible for Harley’s product sales services. The Indian two-wheeler maker will also sell Harley’s accessories, riding apparel and gear, components and general merchandise.
