Ford’s Luxury Car Brand Lincoln Coming To India?

Ford Motor Company has filed an application for the Lincoln trademark in India. This shows the American carmaker’s intention to bring in its global luxury car brand in the country. Having said that, Ford hasn’t communicated anything officially yet. Lincoln brand, which was named after Abraham Lincoln, was created in 1917 and acquired by Ford in 1922. Initially, Ford formed the Lincoln-Mercury division that lasted till 2010. In 2012, Lincoln remained as the sole luxury car division of Ford Motor Company. Lincoln’s global product portfolio includes Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus, Corsair, Continental, MKZ and Black Label. The company’s limousines have served presidents of the United States. Lincoln vehicles are also retailed in the Middle East (except Syria and Iran), South Korea and China.

Ford Lincoln India

The Lincoln Navigator and Continental are the two globally popular offerings from the American carmaker. The Navigator is the brand’s first midsize three-row SUV based on the RWD architecture. The model comes with two powertrains – a standard twin-turbo 3.0L V6and Grand Touring’s twin-turbo motor. The former, paired to a new 10-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox, pushes out a massive 400bhp and 562.6Nm. The Lincoln Continental is the brand’s flagship sedan that comes with a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine generating power worth 400bhp against 542.3Nm of torque. It comes with AWD drivetrain system with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. The full-size sedan offers Lincoln Drive control with three settings – Comfort, Normal and Sport.
