Ford’s India Return Plan – Everest SUV, Ranger Pickup, EVs

Ford is making a comeback to India, which is undoubtedly one of the most exciting news for automobile enthusiasts this year. The American automaker plans to re-enter the Indian market with the new Ford Everest SUV (also known as the Endeavour), which will initially be imported in limited numbers. The production of this model is expected to start by the end of 2025 or in 2026.

The decision to retain the original Everest nameplate will help Ford save costs related to developing new logos, badges, and nameplates. The new Ford Everest (Endeavour) sits on a ladder frame chassis and features newly designed Matrix LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, a larger front grille with a horizontal bar, and inverted L-shaped LED taillamps.

As the new Ford Everest will be imported into India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, it’s likely to come with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) along with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Ford’s latest SYNC software, and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.

Globally, the Everest SUV is available with a range of diesel engine options, including a 170bhp 2.0L single-turbo diesel, a 206bhp 2.0L twin-turbo diesel, and a 246bhp 3.0L V6 diesel. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic, with both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The 2.0L single-turbo and twin-turbo engines offer both 4X2 and 4X4 capabilities, while the 3.0L V6 is exclusively available with the 4X4 system.

Recent sightings of the new Ford Ranger pickup truck in India suggest that this model could also be coming to the Indian market. The Ranger shares its platform, interior, and engine options with the global-spec Ford Everest. The pickup has a black dashboard with a horizontally placed touchscreen infotainment system flanked by vertical air conditioning vents on either side. Feature-wise, the Ranger offers wireless charging, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a full digital instrument cluster, FordPass connected car technology, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and more.
