Electric Royal Enfield Himalayan Testbed Debuts At EICMA

Royal Enfield has finally unveiled its first ever electric vehicle design concept, Himalayan Testbed at the EICMA Motor Show 2023 in Milan, Italy. The design of the new electric motorcycle is inspired by the original Himalayan. The new electric Himalayan Testbed shows the brand’s future direction towards EV and it also previews the future Royal Enfield electric adventure tourer.

Not just the Electric Himalayan Testbed, Royal Enfield has also showcased the all-new Himalayan 452 adventure tourer at the EICMA Motor Show. For people not in the know, the first Himalayan motorcycle was launched in 2016 and was marketed as a simple and very capable yet accessible adventure tourer.

RE Himalayan Electric

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan Testbed electric concept shares several design elements from the new Himalayan 452. Featuring sleek styling, the new electric adventure tourer comes with circular, full LED headlamp setup with a large windscreen and a uniquely styled tank that merges nicely with the single-piece seat. Under the tank, RE has tightly fitted the electric motor. For suspension duties, the motorcycle gets chunky upside-down front forks and adjustable monoshock at the rear.

Royal Enfield has used multiple colours to clearly show different parts of the motorcycle. The battery pack and cycle parts are finished in silver colour, while the pink colour is used on the side panel and golden finish for the forks. It rides on spoke wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Royal Enfield claims that the battery box is designed in-house that serves as main structural element. The company has also used new materials like Organic Flax Fibre composite bodywork to design this concept.
