Citroen’s CMP Platform Based SUV To Rival Kia Seltos

French automaker, Citroen has started testing the C3 Aircross compact SUV in India. This global model measures around 4.15 meters in length, which makes it a rival to the likes of the Volkswagen T-Cross in the European markets. It is highly unlikely to arrive in our market, as Citroen is developing a new mini SUV, codenamed C21 for the Indian market.

The C3 Aircross could be used as a testing bed for the new engine or the platform, which will be used to develop a new mid-sized SUV. We reported earlier that Citroen is developing a new mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Adding to it, the upcoming sub-4 meter SUV is rumoured to be the next-gen Citroen C3 in select markets including Brazil.

Citroen’s mid-sized SUV, codenamed CC24, is rumoured to be launched in 2022. Previous reports claim that the production of the SUV will start in June 2022. This SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in its segment. The Citroen CC24 will be based on the new CMP platform, which will underpin the C21 compact SUV. The new model is likely to share the styling cues from the C4 Cactus, which is on sale in the International markets.

Not just a mid-sized SUV and a sub-4 meter SUV, Citroen is also working on an all-new mid-sized sedan, codenamed Citroen CC26. The new sedan will rival the likes of the new Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. Citron is also developing a new mini electric SUV, which is expected to be priced under 10 lakhs.

The Citroen CC24 is likely to come in petrol version only. It is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power output close to 130bhp. The SUV could also receive a hybrid powertrain, which will meet the real-world driving emission tests that come into effect in 2023.
