Groupe PSA is ready to launch its first offering in India on 7th April 2021. Called the Citroen C5 Aircross, the SUV will be brought via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and assembled at the CK Birla facility in Tamil Nadu. The model will be offered in two variants and a 177bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel engine.
After the C5 Aircross, the French carmaker will foray into the small SUV segment with Citroen CC21 (codename). Citroen’s second model is reported to hit roads near around 2021 festive season. While the launch of the production-ready Citroen CC21 is a few months away, we have seen the model in multiple spy pictures and videos.
- Unlike the C5 Aircross, the upcoming small SUV will be manufactured locally at the brand’s Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu based plant. Therefore, we can expect it to be priced quite aggressively against its rivals including Mahindra KUV100, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Tata HBX.
- The new Citroen small SUV will be based on the CMP platform and come with a flexi fuel system. Its powertrain will include a 1.2L petrol motor (118bhp/150Nm) with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel. If it happens, the CC21 will become India’s first flexi-fuel vehicle.
- The small SUV will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
- If reports are to be believed, there will be three engines – naturally aspirated, turbocharged and turbocharged automatic. Its electric version might also be offered at a later stage.
- Design and styling of the Citroen CC21 will be inspired by bigger Citroen cars like C5 Aircross and C3 Aircross. The small SUV will carry upright stance with decently spacious interior.
- The front fascia will be adored by the signature grille with a slim luminous strip, tri-beam LED projector headlamp and LED DRLs, bold bumper and fog lamp assembly.
- Moving towards its sides, the SUV will feature sporty black cladding all around the wheel arches and doors.

- At the back, there will be chrome surround exhaust tip, a roof mounted spoiler and squared-off LED taillamps.
- The latest set of spy pictures reveals that the new Citroen small SUV will offer a large touchscreen infotainment system that’s likely to support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel will have mounted controls.
