Citroen C3 Caught Testing Alongside Hyundai Venue

The long-awaited Citroen C3 sub-compact hatchback is doing final rounds of testing on the Indian roads. The new model is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of FY 2022-23 (April-June 2022). Ahead of the launch, the new Citroen C3 has been caught testing alongside the Hyundai Venue sub-4 meter SUV.

A total of 3 different test mules were spotted – two top trims, dual-tone, and 1 base trim. What’s interesting is that the top-spec model also rides on steel wheels. This suggest that the Citroen C3 will be introduced as a very affordable model. Most of the features will be offered as an accessory.

Going by the spy images, it is visible that the Citroen C3 has more SUV-ish design than the hatchback. It appears similar to the Hyundai Venue in terms size. Compared to the original model showcased in 2021, the spotted model misses out on the plastic cladding on the lower doors. In fact, the high-spec dual-tone variants are also devoid of cladding and alloys.

Citroen hasn’t released the complete specifications and dimensions of the new C3 hatchback. The details shared by the company reveals that the Citroen C3 measures 3.98 meters in length and has a ground clearance of 180mm. It comes with cross-hatchback profile with raised ground clearance and a high bonnet.

The new Citroen C3 shares styling cues from the bigger Citroen cars including the C4 and the C5. Upfront is a double-slat grille, flanked by split headlamps, and an aggressive bumper. The black plastic cladding can be seen around the wheel arches and on the lower bumper. It gets blacked-out pillars and roof rails. The small car has upright tailgate with rectangular tail-lights and a dual-tone bumper that has faux skid plate.

The upcoming Citroen C3 will come with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a digital instrument console, a 3-spoke steering wheel, manual AC, single-piece front seats with integrated headrests, and others.

The new hatchback is based on the Stellantis’ CMP modular platform, which will be used to develop a wide range of products under Citroen & Jeep. The company claims to have achieved over 90 percent localisation levels. It is likely to be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and a 1.2-litre turbocharged. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
