Citroen C3 Launch By June 2022 – All Details We Know So Far

The French automaker is gearing up to launch its second product in the Indian market. Called the Citroen C3, the model is said to be a hatchback with SUV-ish design elements. Here, it will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Tata Punch. In terms of pricing, the higher variants of the C3 will compete against the premium hatchbacks including Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. With its SUV-ish stance, it will also attract buyers from the compact SUVs such as Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

Measuring 3.98 metres in length, the new Citroen car comes with a raised bonnet, upright stance and high ground clearance (180mm). The front fascia has been adored by Citroen’s signature double-slate grille and split headlamps. The spy images reveal that its mid-spec variant will have chrome elements around the turn signal on the front fenders, rear reflectors in the bumper and on the tailgate.

Some of its design highlights include cladding around the wheel arches, alloy wheels (for higher trims), blacked out pillars and roof rails, rectangular tailllamps, dual-tone rear bumper, a faux skid plate and an upright tailgate. Official details of its interior are yet to be revealed. The upcoming Citroen C3 is likely to come with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel, manual air-con controls, mirrors with internal adjustment and single-piece front seats with integrated headrests.

The new Citroen C3 will be built on the CMP modular platform that’s already used in several Citroen cars and Jeep SUVs. The architecture has been developed with over 90 percent locally sourced components. The hatchback is reported to come with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine with both 5-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The model lineup will miss out on the diesel powertrain.
