In September 2023, the Citroen C3 Aircross, a mid-size SUV, made its debut, featuring a 1.2L turbo petrol engine coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Expanding its model lineup, the French automaker is set to introduce two new automatic variants, equipped with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox exclusive to the Plus and Max variants.
A fresh media report indicates that certain Citroen dealers are now accepting bookings for these automatic variants, requiring an initial deposit of Rs 25,000. The official pricing details are anticipated to be unveiled in January 2024.
Notably, Citroen has ambitious plans for the year, unveiling two new models – the Citroen C3X crossover sedan and the Citroen eC3 Aircross. Positioned as the company’s fifth offering, the C3X will enter the competitive arena against rivals such as the Honda City, Hyundai Cerna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia.
Built on the extensively localized CMP (Common Modular Platform) architecture, also shared with the C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross, the C3X is expected to feature a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 110bhp. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available, with the possibility of an electric iteration in the future. Anticipated pricing for the Citroen C3X crossover sedan ranges from Rs 10 lakh for the base variant to Rs 12 lakh for the top-tier trim.
Looking ahead, the Citroen eC3 Aircross is poised to make its debut towards the end of the year. Built on the CMP platform, this electric SUV will incorporate a 29.2kWh battery and a 57bhp electric motor, mirroring the setup found in the eC3 hatchback. There’s also speculation about the introduction of a larger battery pack and motor. Following the convention of its internal combustion engine counterpart, the eC3 Aircross will be offered in both 5 and 7-seater configurations. Pricing for the electric model is expected to fall within the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
