Car Sales Report May 2023 – Maruti, Mahindra, Tata, Kia, Hyundai

Auto manufacturers have released their sales report for the month of May 2023. Most of the car manufacturers reported positive sales growth, thanks to the improving semiconductor supplies and new product launches. The auto sales are expected to further increase in the coming months, as the economy outlook appears favourable in the country.

Maruti Suzuki Sales Report May 2023

Maruti Suzuki has reported a total passenger vehicle sale (Domestic + Export) of 178,083 units in the month of May 2023 as against 161,413 units in the same month last year. The company exported 26,477 vehicles last month as against 27,191 units in 2022. In the domestic market, MSIL sold 151,606 units (PV + LCV + OEM) in May 2023 as against 134,222 units in the same month last year. Total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 143,708 units that’s significantly higher than the May 2022 (124,474 units).

While the combined sales of Alto & S-Presso are 12,236 units, the compact cars (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR) sales stood at 71,419 units. Maruti Suzuki sold 992 units and 12,818 units of the Ciaz and Eeco respectively. In the UV segment (MPV + SUV), Maruti Suzuki sold 28,051 units in May 2023 as against 28,051 units in the same month last year.

Hyundai Sales Report May 2023

The Korean automaker, Hyundai sold 59,061 units in the month of May 2023 as against 51,263 units in the same month last year. The company reported a year-on-year positive growth of 16.27 per cent. In the domestic market, Hyundai reported a year-on-year sales growth of 14.91 percent. The company sold 48,601 vehicles in May 2023 as against 42,293 units in the same month last year. Hyundai exported 11,000 cars last month as against 8,970 units in May 2022.

Tata Motors Sales Report May 2023

Tata Motors maintains the third position in the list of top selling car manufacturers in India. The company sold 45,878 vehicles in the month of May 2023 as against 43,341 units in the same month last year. Tata reported a year-on-year sales growth of 6 percent. The company sold 5,805 electric vehicles last month as against 3,505 units in May 2022, reporting a Year-on-Year sales growth of 66 percent.

Mahindra Sales May 2023

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 32886 vehicles in the month of May 2023 as against 26904 units in the same month last year. The company reported a significant Year-on-Year sales growth of 22 percent. The company sold 32,883 utility vehicles last month, reporting a YoY sales growth of 23 percent.

Toyota Sales May 2023

Japanese automaker, Toyota sold 19,379 vehicles in the country in May 2023. It recorded a massive year-on-year sales growth of 89.6 percent. In the same period last year, Toyota’s domestic sales stood at 10,216 units. The company has also reported a significant 36.8% month-on-month sales growth. Toyota has also exported 1,031 vehicles last month. The brand’s newest vehicles including Innova Hycross, Hyryder and new Glanza have been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers.

Kia Sales May 2023

Kia Seltos Diesel

Kia India reported a marginal YoY sales growth of 0.26% in May 2023. The company sold 18,766 vehicles last month, just 48 units more compared to the May 2022. Kia sold 8251 units of the Sonet in May 2023, while the Carens and Seltos sales were 6367 and 4065 respectively in May 2023. The company sold 83 units of the EV6 electric crossover in May 2023.
