Car Sales February 2022 – Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Maruti

Automakers in India have released sales numbers for the month of February 2022. Due to shortage of semi-conductor chips, most of the automakers have reported negative sales. However, few brands have recorded positive sales growth in the month of February 2022.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki sold 164,056 units in February 2022, registering a marginal drop compared to the same month last year. The company recorded 137,607 units in month of February as against 1,47,383 units in the same month last year. The company delivered 2,428 units to OEM partner. MSIL has also registered its highest ever monthly exports of 24,021 units in February 222 as against 11,486 units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors registered a Year-On-Year sales growth of around 26.89 percent. It sold 77,733 units in February 222 as against 61,258 units in the same month last year. In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold 9,981 units – 37,13 units of ICE vehicles and 2,846 units of electric cars. While Tata’s ICE vehicles have recorded 38.91 percent YOY sales growth, the EV sales have recorded a massive growth of 478.46 percent.

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company has reported a 14 percent sales decline in February 2022 The company registered a total sales of 53,159 units in February 2022 as against 61,800 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales were down by 14.6 percent to 44,050 in Feb 2022 as against 51,600 units in Feb 2021. The company’s export numbers declined by 10.7 percent to 9,109 units last month. In the same month last year, Hyundai exported 10,200 units.

Mahindra

Mahindra has reported a massive sales growth of 89 percent in the month of February 2022. The company sold 54,455 units last month as against 28,777 units in February 2022. In the passenger vehicle segment, Mahindra sold 27,663 UVs in February 2022 as against 15,391 units in the same month last year. The company recorded a massive growth of 80 percent in the passenger vehicle segment.
