Rising demand for SUVs have helped automakers including Mahindra, Tata, Kia & Hyundai to post impressive sales in the month of August 2022. While Mahindra has reported its highest ever wholesales, Hyundai has managed to achieve a year-on-year sales growth of 5.67 per cent. Hyundai Sales – August 2022
Hyundai has reported positive sales growth in domestic and exports as well. The company sold 49,510 units in August 2022 as against 48,866 in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 5.64 per cent. The company’s export grew by 4 per cent, up at 12.7K units from 12.2k units. In total, Hyundai sold 62,210 units as against 59,068 units in August 2021 with a YoY growth of 5.32 per cent.
However, Hyundai’s MoM domestic sales decline by 1.96 per cent. In July 2022, Mahindra sold 50,500 units. Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “With the continuously improving semi- conductor situation, supplies continue to go up enabling us to serve our beloved customers with their car in the festival season that has kicked off in India with Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi. The newly launched Hyundai TUCSON has also received an overwhelming customer response with excellent booking numbers. We will continue to strive towards improving customer experience towards a happy life.”
Mahindra Sales – August 2022
The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra has received an overwhelming response for its new breed of SUVs including the XUV700, Scorpio N and the Thar. The company sold a total of 29,856 units in August 2022 as against 15,973 units in the same month last year. It reported a year-on-year sales growth of 87 per cent. Mahindra has also sold 336 cars and van in August 2022 as against 187 units in the same month last year – reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 80 per cent.
Mahindra will soon start deliveries of the Scorpio N in the country. The company is sitting on an order book of about 2.5 lakh SUVs. In fact, the XUV700 and Thar currently commands a waiting period of up to 2 years. In fact, the newly launched the Scorpio-N already has a waiting period of around 1 year.
