BYD Seal Electric Sedan Listed On Website – Launch, Key Details

BYD Seal electric sedan will be the third offering from the Chinese EV maker in the country. The model, that made its public debut at this year’s Auto Expo, is slated to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2023 (possibly in September – October). It’s estimated to cost around Rs 70 lakh, ex-showroom. In global markets (such as China and US), the Seal takes on the highly popular Tesla Model 3.

Based on the brand’s e-Platform 3.0, the electric sedan will be offered with two battery pack options – a 61.4kWh and an 82.5kWh. While the smaller capacity batter pack promises a range of 550km, the bigger battery delivers a range up to 700km on (CLTC – Chine light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle). The 61.4kWh and 82.5kWh batteries can be juiced up at speeds of up to 110kW and 150kW respectively.

The carmaker says that the electric sedan has BYD CTB (Cell to Body) technology that improve “the vehicle safety, stability, handling and performance”. Here, the BYD Seal will come with the dual-motor and AWD (all-wheel drive) setup. The front axle-mounted electric motor makes a top power of 218bhp, the rear axle-mounted unit makes 312bhp. With respect to features, the BYD Seal offers a rotating, 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. There are two wireless charging pads, a HUD (head-up display), a scroll wheel for selecting various drive mode, premium audio system, heated windscreen and more.

Design and styling of the Seal electric sedan is inspired by Ocean X concept. It has a coupe-like all-glass roof along with split headlamp, four boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, flush-fitting door handles and a full width LED light bar at the rear. The model measures 4800mm in length, 1875mm in width and 1460mm in height.
