Chinese electric car manufacturer, Build Your Dreams (BYD) has launched its all-new electric e6 MPV for private buyers in the Indian market. The new electric MPV is available at a starting price of Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). The BYD e6 electric MPV is offered in two variants – GL and GLX. The GLX comes with an added AC fast charging option.
For people not in the know, the BYD e6 electric MPV was launched in India last year at 29.15 lakh. This model was exclusively offered to commercial and fleet buyers. Now, the new e6 EV is the only fully-electric MPV on sale in the Indian market.
BYD e6 EV – Specs
The BYD e6 electric MPV is equipped with the brand’s Blade Battery Technology, which is claimed to be safer and reliable in hostile environments than other battery tech. Based on BYD’s e-platform, the new electric MPV comes with a 71.7kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery that is coupled to a single front-axle mounted electric motor that offers 95bhp and 180NM. It is claimed to achieve a maximum speed of 130kmph.
On a single charge, the BYD e6 electric MPV is claimed to offer a combined WLTC range of 415km. This figure increases to 520km per charge on the WLTC city cycle. The MPV has a regenerative braking system and it supports DC fast charging. With fast charging, the MPV can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in 35 minutes. The MPV can be fully charged in just 90 seconds.
The top-spec BYD e6 GLX variant come with a 40kW wall-mounted AC fast charger, which will charge the battery in two hours. It also comes with 6.6kW AC slow chargers, which can fully charge the battery in roughly 12 hours.
Dimensions
The new MPV is 4,695mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,670mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,800mm. It comes with a minimum ground clearance of 170-litres. It also offers a boot capacity of 580-litres. The MPV rides on 17-inch alloys shod with 215/55 section tyres.
BYD e6 Features
The new MPV comes equipped with features such as LED DRLs, automatic AC, a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth & WiFi, in-built navigation & a CN95 air filtration system, and 6-way adjustable front seats. It gets ESP, ABS, electronic parking brake, vehicle dynamic control system, brake override system, traction control system, electronic brake force distribution, hill-start assist control & hydraulic brake assist system.
The company is offering 3 years/1,25,000km warranty on the BYD e6 electric MPV. Adding to it, the BYD is also offering 8 years/500,000km warranty on battery. It is offered in 3 colour options – Doctor Black, Crystal White and Blue Colour.
