In April 2020, Mahindra & Mahindra introduced the BS6 XUV500 within the price range of Rs 13.20 lakh – Rs 17.70 lakh. Now, the 6-seater SUV has witnessed a price hike of up to Rs 16,000. After the price increase, the entry-level W5 variant comes at Rs 13.10 lakh and the top-end W 11 (O) model has been priced at Rs 17.54 lakh. With the BS6 upgrade, the carmaker removed the previous entry-level W3 variant from the SUV model lineup. At present, the BS6 Mahindra XUV500 comes with diesel-manual combination only. Powering the model is a 2.2L diesel motor pushing out power worth 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed manual unit. No other changes have been made to the SUV’s BS6 model.
In August 2020, buyers can avail discount and benefits of over Rs 50,000 on the XUV500 SUV. It includes a cash discount of up to Rs 12,760 and an exchange bonus of Rs 30,000 along with corporate benefits of Rs 9,000. The carmaker is ready to give a generation change to the Mahindra XUV500 early next year. A latest media report suggests that the SUV’s current-generation model will be retailed alongside the new one.
With the generation change, the XUV500 will receive a new 2.0L petrol engine with direct injection technology and turbocharger. Its power and torque outputs will stand at 190bhp and 380Nm respectively. The model lineup will also be offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox along with the standard 6-speed manual unit. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with a more powerful 2.2L diesel engine delivering power worth 180bhp. Based on an all-new platform, the SUV will come with improved design and more feature-loaded interior.
