Hyundai Motor India introduced the Elantra facelift in October, 2019. The vehicle has been made available in three variants – S, SX and SX (O) – packed with the BS6 152bhp, 2.0L petrol engine. Now, the carmaker has introduced a new BS6-compliant 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel engine on the premium sedan model lineup. The new oil burner comes as a replacement to the old BS4 1.6L diesel motor that was discontinued with the mid-life update.
The new BS6-compliant diesel engine pushes out a claimed power of 113.4bhp at 4,000rpm and 250Nm between 1500rpm – 2750rpm. The oil burner is offered on SX manual and SX (O) automatic variants paired to a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox respectively. While the SX manual trim has been priced at Rs 18.70 lakh, the SX (O) automatic model costs Rs 20.65 lakh. The BS6 Hyundai Elantra petrol, on the other hand, comes in the price range of Rs 17.60 lakh (for the SX manual trim) – Rs 19.55 lakh (for the SX (O) automatic variant).
