BMW X5 M Competition Launched In India – High-Powered, High-Tech

BMW India has rolled out the new X5 M Competition at Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). At this price point, it takes head-to-head against the cars like Range Rover SVR, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Audi RS Q8. The performance SUV is being imported via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route in the country. The BMW X5 M Competition is the performance-oriented version of the X5 SUV featuring a more powerful engine and a souped-up exterior.

Under the hood, the X5 M Competition features a 4.4-litre Twin-turbo V8 petrol motor that pushes out a peak power of 617bhp at 6,000rpm and 750Nm of peak torque between 1,800-5,600rpm. It can do 0 to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Power is delivered to all four wheels via the 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox that features a three-stage Drivelogic shifting system.

The performance SUV also gets cruise control with braking function and paddle shifters as standard fitments. It offers four driving modes – Comfort, Road, Sport and Tack. Features such as an Active M Differential, m xDrive AWD, launch control, M-tuned chassis, active roll stabilization, M-specific adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Servotronic steering support and M compound brakes bring larger rotors and calipers further enhance its sporty character.

As mentioned above, the BMW X5 M Competition receives some exterior enhancements over the regular model. Upfront, the performance SUV features new BMW Laserlight (optional), a larger front bumper with larger air intake openings, blacked-out twin kidney grille, new 21-inch M lightweight alloy wheels at the front and larger 22-inch alloys at the rear and quad exhaust tips.

The sporty M treatment continues inside the cabin. The high-performance SUV gets a new M leather steering wheel with M buttons, and red accents and M multi-function front seats with headrests, thigh, backrest and lumbar support. On the dashboard, you will notice a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Drive Touch Controller, voice control, and BMW gesture control (optional). It gets BMW Live Cockpit professional and BMW Virtual Assistant as standard. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof (optional), Harman Kardon sound system with a Bowers and Wilkins Diamond audio set-up with the rear seat entertainment package.

BMW has equipped the X5 M Competition SUV with lots of advanced safety fitments front, side and head airbags, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with M Dynamic Mode, Dynamic Brake Control, collision and pedestrian warning with City Braking function, Dry Braking function, cross-traffic alert systems, lane-keeping assistant with active side collision protection, a head-up display, lane control and lane change assistant and many more.
