BMW iX1 Launch On 28th Sep – Range, Features, Expected Price

The BMW iX1, the entry-level electric SUV from the German automaker, is set to debut on Indian roads on September 28, 2023. This will mark the fourth addition to BMW India’s electric product portfolio, following the iX SUV, i4, and i7 sedans. The iX1 is expected to be brought to India via the Completely Built Up (CBU) route and is anticipated to be priced in the range of Rs 60 lakh to Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom). If launched at this price point, it will become the most affordable electric SUV from BMW India and will compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, priced at Rs 56.9 lakh.

In terms of powertrain, the new BMW iX1 xDrive30 features a 66.5kWh lithium-ion battery and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) dual electric motor setup. It delivers a combined power output of 313bhp and a torque of 494Nm. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 180kmph. It boasts a range of 440km on a single charge.

The SUV supports DC fast charging up to 130kW, taking approximately 29 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent. The battery can also be charged via single and three-phase AC chargers, offering a rate of up to 11kW, with an option of 22kW on a three-phase AC charger. It can fully charge the battery in 6.5 hours as standard and in just 3 hours and 45 minutes with the optional faster charging capability. The vehicle’s features, such as the combined charging unit and improved charging software, further enhance its charging efficiency.

The BMW iX1 benefits from fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which includes a flat-mounted high-voltage battery under the vehicle’s underbody and advanced charging technology. The electric SUV has dimensions of 4500mm in length, 1845mm in width, and 1642mm in height. It rides on a 2,692mm long wheelbase and offers a boot space of 490 liters, expandable to 1,495 liters with the rear seats folded down.

With respect to features, you get access to a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (digital instrument cluster), dual zone climate control, wireless charging, powered front seats with memory and massage functions, HUD, active cruise control with stop & go function, attentiveness assistant, lane departure warning, hill start assist, front collision warning, parking assistant plus and evasion assistant.
