Benelli 502C Urban Cruiser India Debut Tomorrow

Italian two-wheeler maker, Benelli has announced to unveil a new cruiser motorcycle in India tomorrow. Called the Benelli 502C, the new urban cruiser pre-bookings are also expected to commence tomorrow; however, launch could take place towards the end of this month. It is the based on the brand’s 500cc platform, which also underpins the Leoncino and the TRK 502.

The Benelli 502C is expected to be positioned above the Leoncino, and could be priced around Rs 5 lakh. The urban cruiser design is heavily inspired by the hugely popular Ducati Diavel 1260. Except for the headlight, the rest of the design including the big fuel tank, seat design and split tail-lamps are inspired by the Diavel 1260.

Benelli 502C Specs

Powering the Benelli 502C is a 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that powers the TRK 502 and the Leoncino. This engine is capable of producing 47.6PS of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 46Nm at 6,000rpm. For transmitting power, the engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Based on a steel trellis frame, the motorcycle gets a USD front fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. For braking duties, the power cruiser has twin 280mm discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and 240mm disc with dual piston caliper at the rear. A dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.

The motorcycle has a fuel tank of 21-litres and has a saddle height of 750mm. The Benelli 502C won’t have a direct rival in the Indian market. However, it will be positioned against the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the upcoming Honda Rebel 500. It measures 2,280mm in length and 1,140mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 1,600mm.
