Audi Q8 e-tron Unveiled – Range, Charging Time, New Features

Audi Q8 e-tron, which is essentially the facelift version of the e-tron electric SUV, recently made its global debut via official pictures. The model will go on sale in global markets in February 2023. As of now, there is official word in its India launch timeline. Though, it’s expected to arrive by mid 2023 (possibly in July or August). The new Q8 e-tron will be the brand’s new flagship electric SUV that comes in three variants – 50, 55 and S.

The 50 and 55 variants have dual motors placed at the front and rear. While the former makes a top power of 340bhp with 664Nm of torque, the latter is good enough for 408bhp and 664Nm. The S model has a twin-motor setup at the rear axle and returns a claimed power of 503bhp and 973Nm of torque. Major updates have been made to its battery packs including a new management system, more advanced cells and increased energy density (by up to 20 percent).

The Audi Q8 e-tron 50 and Q8 Sportback e-tron 50, with the updated 89kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivers a claimed range of 491km and 505km (WLTP cycle) respectively. The 55 variant promises a range of 582km (Q8 e-tron) and 600km (Q8 Sportback e-tron). The range-topping S variant comes with the same 104kWh battery pack and offers a range of 494km (Q8 e-tron) and 513km (Q8 Sportback e-tron).

Talking about the charging time, the Audi Q8 e-tron 50 takes 9 hours, 15 minutes to get fully charged by using a 11kW AC charger and just 28 minutes via a 150kW DC fast charger. The battery packs of the 55 and S variants can be juiced from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes via a 170kW DC fast charger.

Noticeable changes have been made to its exterior as well. The new 2023 Audi Q8 e-tron features a dual-tone trapezoidal grille with the new signature ring emblem, newly-designed headlamps, revised front and rear bumpers, new ‘Audi’ badging on the B-pillar and new LED taillamps. In order to enhance its aerodynamics, the automaker fitted new spoilers within the underbody and reduced its drag coefficient. Interior of the new 2023 Audi e-tron facelift has been revised with the updated MMI (multimedia interface), new recycled upholstery and trim options.
