All-New Yamaha RX100 Will Be More Powerful – More Details Out

Yamaha RX100 was one of the most iconic motorcycles in the company’s product lineup that existed from 1985 to 1996 in India. The bike was always admired for its lightweight built, great performance and affordable pricing. It was quite popular among auto enthusiasts and drag racers. In fact, there were plenty modifications performed on the bike right from engine tuning, bigger carburettors, bigger size wheels to disc brakes, quicker throttle.

The RX100 (also named ‘Pocket Rocket’) was packed with a 98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine boosted with the two-stroke technology. The motor delivered a peak power of 11bhp and 10.39Nm of torque. It had a 4-speed gearbox, and its kerb weight stood at 98kgs. The bike had a unique exhaust note, which was favorite among the young riders. The model was offered in three paint schemes, namely, Black, Peacock Blue and Cherry Red.

New Yamaha RX100 Launch

In July 2022, the Japanese two-wheeler confirmed that it will bring back the iconic Yamaha RX100 in India. It will be reincarnation of the original bike with modern design language and bigger displacement engine. Earlier Eishin Chihana, Yamaha India Chariman, revealed that the new RX100 “should be an impactful package with powerful engine and design”.

In a latest interview, when he was asked about the RX100 return with an electric powertrain. He said that the company believes that “introducing it with a bigger displacement internal combustion engine may recreate the same impact”. The bikemaker might use the R15 V4’s 155cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine. The unit produces a peak power of 18.4bhp and 14.2Nm of torque. The two-wheeler maker has already confirmed that the new Yamaha RX100 launch will happen only after 2026.
