All-New Mahindra XUV700 Diesel Engine: New Details Emerge

Mahindra will launch the much-awaited new XUV700 7-seater premium SUV by October 2021. The SUV launch has been delayed by few months due to global shortage of semi-conductor chips as well as worsening COVID situation in India. A new media report claims that the new Mahindra XUV700 could initially be launched with analogue instrument console.

The report claims that there is a shortage of digital cockpit, which is developed by Visteon and is imported in India. It is expected that the digital instrument console with the XUV700 will be offered on a later stage. However, the Mahindra XUV700 prototypes have been caught with the digital instrument console.

What’s interesting is that the diesel engine of the XUV700 is being tested in 3 different states of tunes – 180bhp, 190bhp and 210bhp. It is expected that the Mahindra XUV700 will get the 180bhp version of the new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The SUV could also receive the more powerful version of the 2.2L diesel engine at a later stage. It is reportedly to offer around 210bhp of power and 450Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Also See – Mahindra XUV700 to come in 11 variants

The public forum post also claims that the diesel engine is likely to set new benchmark for refinement and driveability. Mahindra is also testing the XUV700 with HIDs and LEDs for the headlamps. The post suggests that the ARAI initially failed the HID setup on the XUV700. The high beam is claimed to be very powerful and blinding.

The petrol version of the Mahindra XUV700 will receive the new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mStallion turbocharged engine that will produce power close to 190bhp. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. The new XUV700 will be more powerful than its direct rivals including the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar.

The new Mahindra XUV700 will also get Level 2 Autonomous Driving Assist Systems (ADAS). ADAS features will include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection and others. It will be based on the new modular platform, which is expected to be stiffer and stronger than the previous platform. The SUV will have a longer wheelbase than the XUV500. Adding to it, the SUV will have wider and longer body to create more space inside the cabin.
