The Korean automaker, Hyundai is preparing the next-gen Verna sedan that has been spotted testing multiple times during its test rounds in India. It was speculated to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2023; that didn’t happen. It is reported that Hyundai has fast paced the development work of the all-new Hyundai Verna, which is expected to be launched by mid-2023.
The all-new Hyundai Verna will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and the Honda City. It will come with an all-new exterior and interior along with a new set of engines. Moreover, the new model will grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin.
All-New Hyundai Verna Interior
The spy images reveal that the next-gen Verna sedan will come with an all-new cabin. The dashboard will be dominated by a new continuous dual-screen setup for the infotainment system and instrument binnacle. This type of layout is offered on the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 6 EVs. There is a slim band of air con vents placed below the infotainment screen.
The infotainment screen will come with multiple connectivity features. The sedan will retain physical buttons for the HVAC control. The all-new Hyundai Verna will be longer and wider than the outgoing model, and will offer more space in the second row and bigger boot. The new model is also likely to receive the N-line variant. Adding to it, the sedan will also get an advanced driver assistance system or ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation and others.
All-New Hyundai Verna Design
The new Verna sedan will share styling cues from the new-gen Elantra sedan, which is on sale in select international markets. The sedan will be designed on Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, which we have already seen on the new Elantra and the Tucson. It will have a new parametric-jewel-pattern grille with turn signal integration wide. The cascading grille comes with integrated full-LED headlamp and aggressive bumper.
The all-new Hyundai Verna will have a fastback-like styling with a tapered roof. The rear profile is expected to get high-tech “H-Tail Lamp” that creates flying H logo-like shape, a wing-type lower bumper treatment and a tapered roofline to enhance the coupe-like look.
Engine Options
The new Verna will be offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with idle start/stop technology. This engine is capable of producing 115bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. Hyundai could also add the 1.0L turbo petrol engine with dual-clutch transmission in the new Verna sedan. The new Verna won’t be offered with a diesel engine option.
