2023 Hyundai Creta: More Safety, 2 Engines, Price Hike

The 2023 Hyundai Creta has been launched with more safety features and updated powertrains in the Indian market. The company hasn’t launched the facelifted model, which is now planned to be introduced sometime in 2024. With new updates, the Creta model year 2023 has received a price hike of up to Rs 45,000.

No 1.4L Turbo Petrol Engine

We informed you earlier that Hyundai will discontinue the 1.4L turbo petrol engine, as it won’t be upgraded to meet the new real-driving emission or RDE norms. Now, the 2023 Hyundai Creta is introduced with only two engine options – a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. Both powertrain options are now offered with idle start/stop technology. While the petrol engine is good for 115bhp and 144Nm of torque, the turbo diesel engine churns out 115bhp and 250Nm of torque.

Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual as standard, 6-speed iMT with petrol and CVT with petrol, and a 6-speed torque convertor with diesel. Both petrol and diesel engines are now compliant with Real Drivin Emissions or RDE norms and can run on E20 fuel. For people not in the know, the RDE or BS6 Phase 2 norms will be introduced from April 1, 2023.

Price Hike

The petrol version of the 2023 Hyundai Creta is now available in the price bracket of Rs 10.84 lakh to Rs 18.34. The diesel range starts at Rs 11.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.13 lakh for the top-end variant. While the petrol version receives a uniform price hike of Rs 20,000, the diesel Creta is now expensive by Rs 45,000.
