75,000 Bookings For Hyundai Exter – Waiting Period Details

The Hyundai Exter has proven to be a resounding success for the South Korean automaker since its launch in July 2023. This micro SUV offers five trims – EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect, with prices ranging from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Its chief rival, the Tata Punch, also falls within a similar price bracket. Notably, the Exter recently underwent a price hike of up to Rs 16,000 and currently boasts waiting periods of up to 18 months, varying based on the variant and city.

Within just three months of its market debut, the Exter garnered an impressive 75,000 bookings and has recorded sales exceeding 23,000 units to date. In July, August, and September, Hyundai managed to sell 7,000 units, 7,430 units, and 8,647 units of this micro SUV, respectively.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Exter houses a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 83hp and 114Nm of peak torque. This same engine is found in the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, i20 hatch, and Venue subcompact SUV. Buyers can opt for either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. It’s worth noting that the entry-level E trim is exclusively available with a manual transmission. The mid-level S and SX trims offer a CNG kit option, while the AMT SX trims come with paddle shifters. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Exter boasts a claimed fuel economy of 19.4kmpl for the manual variant and 19.2kpl for the AMT. The factory-fitted CNG version promises a mileage of 27.10km/kg.

The Hyundai Exter also comes loaded with a plethora of key features, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a dashcam with dual cameras, automatic climate control, wireless charging, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, three-point seatbelts and seatbelt reminders for all seats, rear parking sensors and camera, Isofix anchorages, and many more.
