5 Upcoming New Cars Under 10 Lakhs In 2021: Tata Hornbill

The SUV segment is receiving an excellent response, as most of the customers are now ready to spend extra to get home a bigger looking car. However, the entry-level cars still holds the edge among the first time car buyers. In this article, we bring you a list of upcoming new entry-level cars that will be priced under Rs 10 lakhs in India in 2021 –

Tata HBX/ Hornbill

Upcoming SUVs Under 8 Lakh

Tata Motors will introduce the production version of the HBX micro SUV concept in the second quarter of 2021. Rumoured to be called the Tata Hornbill, the mini SUV will be the brand’s second product to be based on the ALFA modular platform that also underpins the Altroz. The new HBX will be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT.

The production version of the Tata HBX has already been caught testing several times. It will remain true to its concept, and features the brand’s IMPACT 2.0 design language. Its overall length, width and height will be around 3840mm, 1822mm and 1635mm respectively. The mini SUV will share the interior with the Altroz hatchback. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

New Maruti Celerio

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the next-gen Celerio hatchback in the next couple of months. The entry-level hatch has been spotted many times, revealing the major changes. It will come with new design elements and all-new interior. The hatchback will be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel and others.

It will be based on the Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the S-Presso and the new WagonR. The hatchback will be offered with 2 engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2L petrol and a 68bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed MT and an AMT. The hatchback is also likely to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

New Maruti Alto 800

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on the next-gen Alto 800, which is expected to be introduced before the end of this year. The new model is most likely to retain the existing profile; however, the dimensions will be increased significantly. The hatchback will be based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the WagonR. Design and interior details are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to receive comprehensive changes. It is likely to be powered by the 796cc naturally-aspirated petrol engine delivering 48bhp and 69Nm. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.

Renault Kiger

Renault Kiger Compact SUV

Renault will unveil the production version of the Kiger compact SUV on January 28, 2021. The sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2021. The company claims that the production version will be 80% similar to the concept. To be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, the Kiger will be one of the most affordable product in its segment. It will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet.

The Renault Kiger will share the engine options with the Nissan Magnite. It will receive a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbo versions. While the NA unit produces 72bhp and 96Nm, the turbo unit produces 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic (Turbo-Only).

2021 Tata Altroz iTurbo Bookings

Tata Motors has recently unveiled the powerful version of the Altroz hatchback. Called the Tata Altroz iTurbo, the hatchback will come with a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The same engine will also power the Tigor Turbo, which has recently been caught testing.
