New Baleno & New Glanza
Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Baleno hatchback in the country on February 23, 2022. Toyota will also launch the significantly upgraded Glanza hatchback in March 2022. Both models will come with signficiantly design updates and all-new interior with several segment-first features. The new models won’t be introduced with mild hybrid tech. It will be powered by an 89bhp, 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Skoda Slavia
Czech automaker, Skoda will launch the new Slavia mid-sized sedan in the country in March 2022. The new model is the second Skoda to be based on VW Group’s MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Kushaq. The new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. It will be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged & a 147bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor with 1.0L and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L.
VW Virtus
Volkswagen is also planning to launch a new mid-sized sedan, called the Virtus in the country. Scheduled to make global debut on March 8, 2022, the new Volkswagen Virtus is expected to be launched in May. The new model will rival the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz. It will be based on the MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Taigun. The new model will share the engine options the Taigun, which includes a 113bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol & a 147bhp, 1.5L TSI petrol. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor and a 7-speed DSG.
Maruti Brezza
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the new Brezza, which is expected to be launched in April 2022. The new model will be based on the same Global C platform that underpins the existing model as well as the Suzuki S-Cross. It will come with significantly revised design and an all-new interior with segment-leading features. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. This engine churns out 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Toyota Hilux
Japanese automaker, Toyota will announce the prices of the new Hilux lifestyle pick-up truck in March 2022. Deliveries for the new model will also commence from March 2022. It will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine tha is capable of producing 204bhp of maximum power and 420Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. With automatic gearbox, the engine offers 500Nm of torque.
