A few brands are also planning to introduce coupe-style SUVs in the mass market, where mostly we have seen boxy-styled SUVs. Tata Curvv

Tata Curvv SUV Coupe

Tata Motors had showcased the Curvv SUV Coupe concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new SUV Coupe is designed and developed on the brand’s Gen 2 architecture, which can support various body styles and powertrains. The electric version of the Curvv SUV Coupe is expected to be launched by mid-2024, while the ICE version will arrive sometime in late 2024. Tata Motors aims to sell around 12,000 units of the Curvv EV and 36,000 units of the ICE-powered vehicle. The electric version is likely to get a battery pack of around 50kWh with a range of over 400km on a single charge. On the other hand, the ICE version will mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.2L T-GDi petrol engine that produces 125PS and 225Nm of torque.

Toyota Taisor

Japanese automaker, Toyota will introduce its own version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Rumoured to be called the Toyota Taisor, the sub-4 meter SUV will retain the Coupe-like or crossover-ish styling with Toyota’s signature styling elements. It will be offered with two engine options – 89bhp, 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and 100bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol.

Mahindra BE 05 electric SUV

Mahindra had showcased 5 born electric SUVs, which will be launched by 2026. The company will launch an all-new BE.05 electric SUV, which has coupe-SUV-like styling. Marketed as a Sports Electric Vehicle or an SEV, the Mahindra BE.05 will be positioned above the soon-to-be-launched XUV400. The Coupe SUV will be based on an all-new Skateboard architecture, which will support different body styles and electric powertrains. It is expected to get a battery pack of around 60kWh with a front-axle mounted electric motor.

The company has showcased two new electric SUVs under the XUV nameplate, called the XUV.e8 and the XUV.e9. The XUV.e9 will be a coupe-SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2025. The coupe-SUV will be based on the Skateboard architecture, called the INGLO. The electric SUV will come with advanced features including Level 2 autonomous driving, a Head-Up-Display (HUD) with augmented navigation, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function. The SUV has flush door handles, and a raked roofline extending into the rear. The electric SUV is expected to be offered with various battery pack options, with the range-topping model to feature a dual-motor setup, an 80kWh battery pack, and an AWD system.
