4 New Tata Electric SUVs Confirmed By Early 2024 – Curvv, Punch

Tata Motors is currently dominating the passenger electric vehicle space with over 80 per cent market share. The company is currently selling the electric versions of the Tiago, Tigor and the Nexon compact SUV. In order to further strengthen market position, Tata Motors has announced to launch 4 new electric SUVs by early 2024. The company is currently testing the electric versions of the Nexon, Curvv, Punch and the Harrier SUVs.

The new Tata Nexon electric will first go on sale by September 2023, followed by the Harrier EV. Tata Motors will launch the new Punch electric by early next year. Moreover, the production version of the Curvv EV concept is expected to be revealed in the first quarter of 2023. Moreover, Jaguar Land Rover will start accepting pre-orders for the Range Rover & Range Rover Sport EVs in October this year. The all new Jaguar EVs will be introduced in 2025.

New Tata Nexon EV

Tata Motors will give a significant makeover to its best-selling compact SUV – the Nexon SUV. The new model will come with an all-new styling with design inspiration coming from the Curvv concept. It is likely to get the Curvv-like front grille with diamond-shaped inserts, LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, revised tail-lamps with an LED light bar and new tailgate.

Inside the cabin, the new Nexon will have flat-bottom, two-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters (petrol), a new 7-inch digital instrument console, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a new dashboard layout. The new model is expected to retain the existing powertrain options including a 30.2kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 312km, and a 40.5kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 453km.

Tata Motors had showcased the Harrier EV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The production version of the EV concept is expected to be introduced before the end of this year. The Harrier EV has been designed on the company’s GEN 2 (SIGMA) platform, which is essentially heavily modified version of the Land Rover-derived Omega architecture. The SUV will have several EV-specific design elements including a new blacked-off grille, revised bumper, split headlamps with new LED light bar and blackened house & angular creases.

The Harrier EV will come with AWD system along with the vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities. It is likely to get a battery pack of around 60kWh with an estimated range of around 400-500km (in real world conditions).

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors has started testing the Punch EV on the Indian roads. The new model will retain the original styling; however, it will have EV-specific design elements. The SUV will also receive some changes, which will be inspired by the Curvv concept. It will have a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the center & haptic touch controls. The new model could also receive a 360 degree camera. It will have an electronic parking brake & a rotary drive selector.

The Punch EV is likely to come with a 24kWh battery pack, which currently offered in the Tiago EV. It is expected to offer a range of around 300km on a single charge. Likely to be priced around Rs 12 lakh, the Punch EV will challenge the Citroen eC3.

Tata Motors had showcased the closer to production version of the Curvv SUV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The company has confirmed that the Curvv SUV Coupe will be introduced in our market in the first half of 2023. The new model will be offered with electric as well as petrol/diesel engine options. The new model is expected to feature a larger 40kWh battery pack with range over 400kms. It will rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the Hyundai Kona EV.
