Mahindra Thar 5-Door

Mahindra Thar EV

Mahindra is testing a more practical 5-door version of the Thar lifestyle SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2024. The new model will be based on the new Scorpio-N’s ladder-frame chassis and will ride on a longer wheelbase. It will receive several changes in terms of styling, interior and features along with new mechanics.

The new Mahindra Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV will ride on longer wheelbase to create more space inside the cabin. If reports are to be believed, the wheelbase will be increased by around 300mm and the longer length will give enough space to add extra set of doors for rear seat occupants. This will make it more practical compared to the 3-door model, and the extra door will allow easier ingress. Moreover, the SUV will offer bigger boot space. The 5-door Mahindra will come with a factory-fitted single-pane electric sunroof.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to receive significant changes inside the cabin. It is expected to get a larger 8-inch AndrenoX touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity & connected car tech, new seat upholstery and an updated instrument console. The new LWB Thar will offer more practicality and better ride quality. It will have a revised rear suspension setup. It is expected to share the powertrain options with the new Scorpio-N, which includes a 172bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel and a 200bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol. The off-road SUV will come with 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain options.

The 2024 Mahindra XUV400 is expected to be offered with two engine options – a 110bhp, 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 117bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel.
