The 2nd generation BMW M2 has finally been launched in our market at a price of Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom). The two-door performance-oriented coupe is available in a single variant with an automatic gearbox as standard. However, customers can opt for a manual gearbox as an optional. The new model has been launched as a CBU and only limited numbers will be on offer.
The new BMW M2 is powered by a 3.0-litre straight six that also powers the M3 and M4. This engine is capable of producing 460bhp and 550Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox as standard. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 4.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250kmph. The new M2 also comes with adaptive M suspension unit as standard.
In terms of features, the 2nd gen BMW M2 gets electrically adjustable seats with memory function, M seat belts, adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist, BMW connected package, wireless charging, a Harman Kardon sound system, silver finished M light 19-inch alloys in the front and 20-inch at the rear. The two-door sports coupe is available in 5 exterior colour options – Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Toronto Red, Black Sapphire and Zandvoort Blue. It offers BMW M Sport seats as standard. Customers can opt between Black and Cognac shades for the interior scheme.
Customers can opt for a manual gearbox for an additional Rs 1 lakh. The other optional features include a carbon-fibre roof, carbon-fibre bucket seats, jet-black alloy wheels, and M driver’s package. The second gen BMW M2 comes with an aggressive body kits, featuring a functional rear spoiler, a low-slung GT-style rear diffuser and quad exhaust tips, and a frameless horizontal kidney grilles and wide set headlamps. It comes equipped with a curved display to accommodate a new 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch instrumentation with M-specific graphics.
