New Kia Sonet Facelift Booking, Debut Date 14th December

Kia India is all set to unveil the updated Sonet subcompact SUV on December 14, 2023. One must note that the carmaker is yet to confirm this information. As per the latest media report, its booking windows might also be opened on the same day. Official price announcement, however, will be made in January 2024. With the mid-life update, the 2024 new Kia Sonet will witness a few noticeable cosmetic changes along with some major feature upgrades. Engine setup, however, will be carried forward from the pre-facelift version.

We have already seen the China-spec new Sonet in the flash light, while the India-spec version will be slightly different with unique front and rear bumpers. Upfront, you will also notice a revised grille and headlamps with new LED DRLs. Save for the new alloy wheels, the side profile will remain largely unchanged. The rear section will be revised with the new vertically placed wraparound taillamps, which are connected via an LED light.

2024 Kia Sonet facelift

The major highlight of the 2024 new Kia Sonet will be the ADAS tech that will be reserved for the higher trims. The subcompact SUV will also come with the new switchgear for the HVAC system, redesigned dashboard and updated infotainment system. Its digital instrument cluster might also be carried forward from the Carnes MPV. Its likely to get new upholstery and trim as well. As mentioned above, no changes are expected to be made under the hood. The engine bay of the new Kia Sonet will employ the same 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel units, making 83bhp with 115Nm, 120bhp with 172Nm and 116bhp with 250Nm, respectively.

While the naturally aspirated petrol unit will come with the same 5-speed manual gearbox, the turbo-petrol and diesel motors will have the 6-speed iMT. A 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes will be exclusively offered with the diesel and turbo petrol engines, respectively. The SUV is likely to receive new upholstery and trim, and for enhanced safety, Kia may offer six airbags as a standard feature across the model lineup.

Under the hood, no changes are anticipated, and the new Kia Sonet will retain the same engine options: a 1.2L petrol producing 83bhp with 115Nm, a 1.0L turbo petrol delivering 120bhp with 172Nm, and a 1.5L diesel generating 116bhp with 250Nm.
