Kia India has confirmed that it will unveil fourth-generation Carnival (internally known as KA4) at the 2023 Auto Expo. Ahead of its official debut, the carmaker has released a teaser video showing its silhouette along with the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille with a diamond pattern embellished with chrome, high-beam headlamps with LED DRLs, newly-designed alloy wheels and LED taillamps connected via a large LED light bar. Just so you know, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival made its global debut in June 2020. Its front overhang is said to be shortened and the A-pillar pushed back for making a longer bonnet. A prominent character line, which is running across its length, connecting the head-and taillamps, a chrome fin for the C-pillar and the A, B and D-pillars in black finish, create an ‘island roof’. The new-generation model has 30mm longer wheelbase (measuring 3090mm) that ensures more cabin space.
Inside, the new 2023 Kia Carnival has a completely new dashboard with two screens – one for the infotainment system and another for the digital instrument cluster. The MPV continues to come with the dual-sunroof setup. What’s new is the steering wheel and touch-sensitive buttons for infotainment and climate control on the centre console. Similar to the current generation, the fourth-gen model comes with a host of safety features and driving assists.
In the international market, the fourth-generation Carnival is available with three engine options – a 3.5-litre GDi V6 petrol (290bhp/355Nm), a 3.5L MPi V6 (268bhp/332Nm) and a 2.2L (199bhp/404Nm). All motors come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In India, the new 2023 Kia Carnival is likely to use the same 2.2L diesel engine (200bhp/440Nm) that does duty in the existing model.
