American SUV maker, Jeep has unveiled the updated version of the Renegade SUV for the International markets. It is the second facelift for the popular Renegade SUV, which will first go on sale in Brazil. It is the brand’s smallest SUV, which was first introduced in 2014. The 2022 Jeep Renegade comes with design changes along with some interior updates.
The 2022 Jeep Renegade comes with a revised front fascia, featuring a slimmer grille and revised headlamps with turn indicators and updated LED DRLs. There is a revised front bumper with bigger cladding and rectangular fog lamps.
The rear profile has minimal changes in the form of new graphics for the tail-lights, and mildly revised bumper that accommodates a striking faux skid plate. The SUV now has newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the 2022 Jeep Renegade facelift looks largely identical to the previous model. It comes with a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a newly designed 7-inch fully digital instrument console. It also gets a new steering wheel, which is sourced from the Compass.
The updated model will be powered by a new 1.3-litre T270 turbo-flex engine that is capable of producing 185bhp of power and 270Nm of torque. The regular petrol version offers a maximum power of 180bhp. It will be available in both 2WD and 4WD versions. Six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. The other gearbox options include a 6-speed and a 9-speed automatic.
Jeep has no plans to launch the current Renegade mid-sized SUV in the Indian market. The company is preparing a new sub-4 meter SUV, which will be positioned below the Renegade. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Maruti Brezza and the Mahindra XUV300.
