2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Interior, Exterior Revealed

Volkswagen is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with three new SUVs including Taigun, Atlas Cross and the updated Tiguan 5-seater. All three models are slated to go on sale this year. Recently, a test mule of the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift was spotted testing without any camouflage revealing exterior and interior details.

 The SUV’s updated model features a newly-designed grille merging into the revised bi-projector LED headlamps that seem inspired by the global-spec Golf. The sportier front bumper has more pronounced air intakes. Other key changes include a new set of alloy wheels, L-shaped LED tailamps, revised rear bumper with a diffuser plate and ‘Tiguan’ badging on the centre of the tailgate.

Interior has also been revised with a new touchscreen infotainment system that’s likely to come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also gets a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and connected car technology. Similar to the global-spec model which was previewed last year, the India-spec 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift might receive new multi-coloured ambient lighting, two illuminated USB-C ports in the centre console, a touch sensitive control module for climate functions and a 480W, 10-speaker Harman Kardon system. The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift could be made available with the 1.5L TSI turbo petrol and 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engine options. While the former will be good enough for 150PS and 250Nm, the latter will deliver 190PS with 320Nm. The more powerful petrol motor could be reserved for the higher trims. The SUV model lineup might get a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with paddle shifters as standard. The 1.5L petrol variants could also be available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system might be exclusively offered on the 2.0L petrol engine. Unlike the old model, the updated one will miss out on diesel engine. Prices of the new Volkswagen Tiguan 2021 are likely to start from Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be positioned against the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross.
