2021 Tata Tigor Electric Launching Tomorrow; High Range, More Power

Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Tigor electric for private buyers tomorrow (31st August, 2021). The 2021 Tata Tigor Electric has already been revealed. In fact, the company has started dispatching the new sedan to dealerships. It comes with Nexon EV’s Ziptron powertrain and cosmetic design and interior changes.

The new Tigor Electric will be offered in 3 variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ dual-tone. The vehicle will be offered in a single Teal Blue paint, while the dual-tone variant will get a black coloured roof. Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Ziptron powered electric vehicles will offer a minimum range of 250km. The new powertrain will significantly improve the overall performance of the sedan compared to the X-Pres T, which offers a range of 213km.

If reports are to be believed, the 2021 Tata Tigor Electric could offer a range around 350km. For people not in the know, the Nexon EV is claimed to offer a range of 312km. It is powered by a 55kW electric motor and a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain offers 74bhp (55kW) of power and 170Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer 0 to 60kmph acceleration in just 5.9 seconds. This is significantly higher than the one offered by Xpres-T powertrain, which offers 41hp and 105Nm of torque.

The Tata Tigor EV comes fitted with a IP 67 rated battery pack. The company also offers 8 years and 160000km battery and motor warranty. It gets impact resistant battery pack casing. The Tigor electric battery can be charged from 0 to 180% in about 1 hour using fast charging, and around 8.5 hours using standard home charger. The Ziptron tech also allows for regenerative braking system.

In terms of design, the 2021 Tata Tigor Electric gets a revised front fascia. The front has projector headlamps, LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) on the lower bumper, LED tail-lamps and blacked-out wing mirrors. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear view camera, rear parking sensors, etc will come as standard. Inside the cabin, the Tigor EV will have dual-tone black and beige scheme, a 7-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, engine start-stop button and drive modes.
