2021 Skoda Octavia Launch Postponed Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

Skoda Auto India has officially announced to postpone the launch of the much-awaited new Octavia sedan. Zac Hollis, Director, Sales & Marketing, Skoda India said that the company has postponed the launch of the all-new Octavia until the current situation improves.

He tweeted, “Sometimes, it’s important to take a pause and come back stronger. We at Skoda Auto have postponed the launch of the all-new Octavia until the current situation improves. We will keep you updated on the launch developments. Stay safe and let us do our part to fight the virus.”

Skoda has already dispatched significant numbers of the new Octavia to dealerships. The updated model will be launched once the situtation improves and lockdown removed from different parts of India including Maharashtra. The new model will be assembled at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India PVT LTD plant in Maharashtra.

The 2021 Skoda Octavia will come with significant design changes and upgraded interior along with a more powerful engine. Based on the VW Group’s MQB EVO platform, the new Octavia will receive the new 190PS, 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. It is expected that the entry-level variants of the new Octavia could receive the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the turbo petrol engine produces 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.

The 2021 Skoda Octavia is 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the previous model; however, it retains the 2,686mm wheelbase. The sedan gets aggressive design elements. It features a prominent butterfly grille with chrome surround and single-piece headlamp with integrated LED DRLs. In terms of features, the sedan will get a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Skoda’s Smartlink, and a new 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit Digital Instrument Console. The sedan also gets connected car tech with eSIM functionality. It will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels. For safety and security, the sedan has 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and traction control.
