The new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA is all set to hit Indian roads in coming months. Ahead of its official arrival, the engine details of the luxury SUV have been emerged on the web. According to a fresh media report, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be offered with the 1.3L turbocharged petrol and 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit will deliver power worth 163bhp with 250Nm of torque, the oil burner will make 190bhp.
The 220d diesel engine with 4Matic AWD (all-wheel-drive) system will be exclusively offered with the AMG Line trim, and the FWD (front-wheel-drive) will be available in Progressive Line trim. One must note that the performance-oriented AMG variant is likely to be introduced at a later stage. The oil burner has been benefited with variable geometry, a forged crankshaft, 2050 bar of injection pressure and steel pistons.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA appears more muscular with elements such as powerdomes in the bonnet, 20-inch wheels and mounted flush with the outer edge of the body. Upfront, the small luxury SUV features a signature diamond-stud pattern grille with chrome bar at the centre, radiator grille with distinctive openings, sweptback LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.
Some of its key highlights include bolder shoulder creases, newly-designed LED taillamps, a beefy bumper and sculpted boot lid. Interior has also been revised comprehensively. It has a large single unit display (one 7-inch, one 10.25-inch) working for instrumentation and MUBX infotainment system.
The carmaker says that the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers more cabin space than its predecessor especially the legroom for the rear seat occupants and boot space. The driver and the front passenger seating position is higher than the current model. The list of features also includes a multifunctional steering wheel, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, and Mercedes’ Pre-Safe safety package.
