2021 Mahindra XUV500 New Images Reveal More Details

A new set of images reveal more details about the interior and exterior of the much-awaited 2021 Mahindra XUV500. Earlier planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2021, the new XUV500 is now expected to be launched in mid-2021 before Diwali. The launch has been delayed due to global shortage of semi-conductor chips.

The clearest interior picture reveals more details about the premium features on offer in the upcoming Mahindra XUV500. The SUV comes fitted with power adjustable front seats, as the buttons are mounted on the door trim. The SUV also gets memory function driver’s seats, which allows the owner to have a preset driving position. The powered-seat controls are surrounded by faux open-pore wood finish, which gives it a premium feel.

The top-spec model gets the twin-screen setup, which looks similar to the one we have seen in latest Mercedes models including the EQC. The twin-screen setup comprises of a touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument console. The images reveal that the SUV gets dual-tone dashboard with black on top and lighter colour on the bottom. The leather finish in lighter finish can be seen on the dashboard with double stitching gives it an upmarket look. The AC vents are placed below the touchscreen, while the rotary knobs for AC and other functions are placed lower on the central console.

The SUV gets new steering wheel with multifunction buttons, leather upholstery for armrest and steering, leather seats, automatic gearbox, multi-drive mode button on the console, wireless charging slot, etc. In terms of features, the new XUV500 will receive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control and keyless entry with push-button start.

The new Mahindra XUV500 will also receive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It will get features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist. For safety and security, the SUV will get multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, 360 degree camera, ESP and a tyre pressure monitor.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 retains the overall profile; however, it will have all-new design elements. The front fascia features a bolder and larger seven-slat grille, new angular headlamp clusters with boomerang shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 seems significantly longer than its previous model with longer wheelbase. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the new model is likely to offer bigger and spacious cabin for second and third-row occupants. Other design highlights will include new wraparound LED tail-lamps, roof-integrated spoiler with brake light, shark fin antenna, A-pillar mounted ORVMs with integrated blinkers, sloping roofline and multi-spoke alloy wheels.

What’s Under The Hood?

The new XUV500 will come with two engine options – a 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 2.2L turbocharged diesel. While the former is tuned to produce up to 190bhp of power and over 350Nm of torque, the diesel engine is likely to offer around 180bhp of power. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
