Kia Motors has unveiled the all-new Kia K5 mid-sized sedan, which comes with new design, all-new safety, turbocharged engines and all-wheel-drive layout. The new model is based on the N3 platform that also underpins the new Kia Sorento and the Carnival MPV. The 2021 Kia K5 will be made available in 4 trim levels LX, LXS, GT-Line and EX.
The 2021 Kia K5 sedan gets more prominent “Tiger Nose” front grille that extends into the headlight and hood structure. The sedan features low-slung and fastback silhouette that has chrome garnish on the roofline. There is a shark skin-inspired mesh design on front grille and dual chrome exhaust tip garnish, signature heart beat DRLs and taillights with LED “dashes” span the width of the rear deck lid, gloss black applique on rear glass, and newly styled 16-, 18-, or 19-inch alloy wheels.
There is a newly designed infotainment display that merges well with the instrument display, claimed to form a 3D layout and driver-centric space. Interior highlights include aircraft-type shift knob, read leatherette seating, satin chrome metallic and wood-like finishes on the dashboard and door panels, and panoramic sunroof, and flat-bottom steering.
Thanks to the new N3 platform, the 2021 Kia K5 sedan is marginally longer, lower and wider compared to the Optima sedan. The new model is available with engine options including a 290bhp, 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol with 8-speed DCT and a 180bhp, 1.6-litre turbocharged GDI with 8-speed AT.
The 2021 Kia K5 sedan is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, multi-connection Bluetooth wireless connectivity and UVO telematics. The sedan gets Bose Premium Sound System with 12 high-performance speakers. It also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The sedan is equipped with high-end safety and driver assistance features such as forward collision warning, forward-collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, lane following assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, parking distance warning reverse, navigation-based smart cruise control curve, highway driving assist and safety exist assist.
