We reported earlier that the next-generation Honda HR-V (new Vezel in Japan) will make global debut on February 18, 2021. It is expected to be released in home market by March-April 2021, while global launch slated by the end of this year. Ahead of the global reveal, important information about the 2021 Honda HR-V specs, mileage and variants have been leaked on the Internet.
2021 Honda HR-V Specifications
Honda has confirmed that the new-gen HR-V will come with an hybrid powertrain. In fact, the teaser also shows the e:HEV badge placed on the tailgate. It will come with a petrol-electric powertrain, which will be sourced from the international-spec new Fit/Jazz. The same engine will also power the upcoming new Honda City Hybrid in India, which is expected in mid-2021.
In Europe, the HR-V Hybrid will join the Honda e (brand’s first Battery Electric Vehicle), CR-V hybrid, Jazz hybrid and the Jazz Crosstar hybrid. The e:HEV unit comprises of a 1.5-litre (intelligent-Multi Mode Drive) petrol engine coupled to a compact, powerful two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery and a fixed gear transmission. The hybrid system offers a total power output of 109bhp. It will accelerate to 100kmph from zero in just 9.5 seconds.
3 Drive Modes & Mileage
The Honda City hybrid is claimed to return an impressive fuel economy of 27.8kmpl. However, the leaked information reveals that the new HR-V hybrid will return a combined fuel efficiency of 4.1 litres/100 km, which 24.39kmpl.
Similar to the Jazz Hybrid, the Honda HR-V e:HEV will offer 3 driving modes – Electric Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. In Electric Drive mode, the SUV will be running 100% on electric power during low-speed cruising. In the Hybrid Drive mode, the petrol engine and electric motor combine for optimum power and economy. On higher-speed, the vehicle will ride on the petrol engine.
All-New Styling
The new HR-V will grow in size and will measure close to 4.4 meters in length. It will be positioned against the likes of the Jeep Compass, Toyota Corolla Cross and the Hyundai Tucson. The SUV will have coupe-SUV styling, which is quite evident from the rear third quarter. The 2021 Honda HR-V will have aggressive front fascia, which seems inspired by new Civic prototype. It will have large front grille, narrow LED headlamps, aggressive front bumper with mesh intake, and newly styled fog lamps. The SUV gets sloping roofline, roof integrated spoiler, rakish rear window and an angular C-pillar. The SUV has flatter body, featuring flush bumper and LED tail-lights that are slimmer than before.
2021 Honda HR-V 4 Variants
According to leaked information, the new HR-V will be offered in a choice of 4 variants – G, e:HEV X, e:HEV X, e:HEV Z and E:HEV Play. The base model is expected to be offered with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, while the other three will have hybrid powertrain. The SUV is reportedly to come with FWD as well as AWD option.
In terms of features, the entry-level Honda HR-V 2021 gets LED headlamps, 16-inch aluminum wheels, 4.2-inch dashboard infotainment, hill descent control, and Honda Sensing tech. On the other hand, the e:HEV X gets features like 7-inch TFT and Deceleration selector mode to recharge battery. The Z variant rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. It gets hands-free tailgate, sequential turn signal LED, blind spot information and active cornering lights. The top-end eHEV play variant gets panoramic sunroof, Honda Connect (Connected car features), wireless charging and others.
Colour Options
The report claims that the new HR-V will come in 6 monotone colours and 5 dual-tone colours. The monotone colours include Premium Sunlight White, Premium Crystal Red, Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Meteroid Gray and Sand Khaki Pearl. The dual-tone colour options include White and Black roof, Midnight Blue with Silver roof, Black with Silver roof, Gray with Black roof and Khaki Pearl with Black roof.
