Car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Hyundai, Tata, Volkswagen and Skoda have lined-up multiple new models for the coming months. Talking about the sub-4 metre SUV segment, there will be two major product launches – heavily updated Tata Nexon and Hyundai Exter. Both models are reported to go on sale in August 2023. One must note that the official launch dates are yet to be revealed by their respective carmakers. Let’s take a look at key details of the aforementioned upcoming SUVs.
Upcoming Subcompact SUVs
Tata Nexon Facelift
This time around, the carmaker will make significant design and feature upgrades to the Nexon along with a new petrol engine. The subcompact SUV will come with a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol motor making power worth 125PS and 225Nm of torque. Rumour also has it that the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift could also be offered with a new dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The existing 1.5L turbo diesel engine with manual and AMT gearboxes will also be on offer. The updated Nexon could get a new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and a new digital instrument cluster. Hyundai Exter
Hyundai Exter will be the smallest SUV offering from the South Korean automaker in India. The carmaker has confirmed that the micro SUV will feature Hyundai’s new ‘Parametric Dynamism’ design language. The latest teaser reveals some of its design elements including parametric front grille, squared shaped headlamps with projector lamps, H-shaped LED DRLs and sporty front bumper running across its width. In terms of features, the new Hyundai mini SUV could offer a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech and a sunroof.
