2 New SUVs To Launch Next Week – Jimny & Elevate

The Indian car market is all set to receive two highly anticipated SUVs in the month of June 2023. While Maruti Suzuki will announce the prices of the long-awaited 5-door Jimny on June 7, Honda will finally debut its locally developed SUV – the Elevate on June 6, 2023. Not just these two SUVs, Mercedes-Benz will launch the SL55 – the iconic SL roadster in our market on June 22.

The Indo-Japanese brand has already started accepting orders for the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV online or at authorised NEXA dealerships at Rs 25,000. The SUV has already registered 30,000 bookings and commands a waiting period of around 6 months. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.

The manual petrol variant is claimed to offer a certified fuel economy of 16.94kmpl, while the automatic version delivers 16.39kmpl. The Jimny lifestyle SUV comes with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD (all-wheel drive) system with a manual transfer case and a low range gearbox with 3 modes – 2WD high, 4WD high and 4WD low. Honda Elevate SUV Confirmed

The Japanese automaker is all set to introduce its much-awaited mid-size SUV in our market on June 6. The prices of the new SUV are likely to be revealed sometime in August this year, before festive season. Called the Honda Elevate, the new SUV will be based on the 5th generation City platform. Not just platform, the new Elevate SUV will share the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with the City sedan. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. The new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the Skoda Kushaq/VW Taigun. In fact, select Honda dealers have already started accepting pre-orders for the SUV at token amount of Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000. It is also likely to get Honda’s Atkinson Cycle 1.5L petrol-hybrid setup that is offered on the City hybrid.
