MG Motor India has recently launched the upgraded Gloster SUV, which comes with host of changes and advanced connectivity features. The company is planning to launch two more models in the country over the period of next 6 months. MG Motor India will launch the new Hector SUV and an entry-level electric car. Both models have already spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads.
New MG Hector
MG Motor India has already released the interior pictures of the new-gen Hector SUV, which shows new dual-tone cabin with a larger 14-inch portrait HD touchscreen infotainment system. The company has also released multiple teasers revealing the revised exterior styling. The new MG Hector will come with a new chrome grille and, revised LED headlamps and tail-lamps. The teaser reveals that the SUV will have chrome surround for wider and slimmer air-dam, and new split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top and main headlamp units sits on lower bumper.
MG claims that the new Hector’s interior is conceptualized as a ‘Symphony of Luxury’. It gets dual-tone Oak White and Black interior, along with the rich brushed metal finish. The dashboard and other body panels are finished in leather. It gets a new multi-functional steering wheel, and an all-new digital instrument console. The SUV’s new 14-inch HD portrait touchscreen infotainment system comes with Next-Gen i-SMART tech, wireless connectivity.
The new gen MG Hector 2022 is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel. While the former is good for 141bhp and 250Nm, the oil burner produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The petrol engine can also be had with the mild hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
MG Small EV
MG Motor India will launch an entry-level electric car based on the Wuling Air EV. Once launched, the new MG electric car will be positioned against the newly-launched Tata Tiago EV (priced between Rs 8.49 lakh & Rs 11.79 lakh). It will be a 2-seater model and will be called the MG City EV. To be launched by June 2023, the new electric vehicle is expected to feature a battery pack with capacity of around 20kWh – 25kWh. It delivers power worth 40bhp and a range of 150km in real world condition. The small electric vehicle rides on 12-inch steel rims and has a wheelbase of 2010mm.
