The homegrown auto maker, Mahindra has silently introduced an Adventure Edition of the Thar off-roader in the country. Only 30 units of the Adventure Edition of the car will be exclusively built for Indian market. The vehicle gets subtle changes to both exteriors and interiors.
Mechanically, the Thar Adventure Edition remains unchanged. The new features added to this hatchback include:
New Java Brown exterior shade
Unique Adventure body wrap with a 2D map & compass
Head lamp, tail lamp protector & chaff screen for extreme survival missions
Wheel arch extensions that lend attitude & butch look
Seat covers in black & orange piping
New Centre console that takes care of securing basic equipment on the move
Moulded floor mats that can also aid in self-recovery & camping requirements
Under the bonnet is the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder, CRDe turbo diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 103bhp and 247Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Activate the 4WD mode which is a Borg Warner four wheel drive mechanism that distributes torque to all-4 wheels.
Mahindra is yet to reveal the exact pricing of the Thar Adventure Edition. The current CRDe 4×4 variant is priced at Rs. 7.37 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. The new model is expected to cost around Rs. 10,000-20,000 more than the regular variant.
